Video Relay Service (VRS)

What is Video Relay Service?

In 2016, SLIAO was selected by the Canadian Administrator of Video Relay Service (CAV) to be the national provider of Video Relay Service (VRS) interpreting in Canada. VRS enables Deaf or hard of hearing Canadians who use ASL or LSQ to make calls over the Internet using a sign language interpreter in real-time.

Whether it’s an employer connecting with a potential employee, a sister calling their sibling on the east coast, or someone placing a call to learn about a new government service, SLIAO facilitates hundreds of VRS calls across Canada 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
