2020 GRANT FOR BIPOC IEP STUDENT INTERPRETERS

SLIAO recognizes that there is a disproportionate number of BIPOC students who have to rely on scholarships, student loans and working to gain access and support themselves while studying in a Canadian Interpreting Education Programs. SLIAO aims to reduce this barrier and create a more inclusive professional body by offering a $3000 grant to a selected individual.

Grant requirements, applicants must:

-Self identify as Black, Indigenous or a Person of Colour

-Be registered in a Canadian Interpreter Education Program (submit proof of acceptance letter or course registration)

-Submit a resume and cover letter or video explaining community involvement and how they foresee future involvement in their community as well as interpreting

 

Grant applications will be reviewed and recipient selected by SLIAO’s Cultural Diversity Committee.

Deadline to apply is August 7, 2020 

Announcement of selected recipient: August 21, 2020
